Our work in schools

We help schoolchildren in Scotland become global citizens by enabling them to learn about other cultures and prepare for life in the global economy.

Through British Council’s Connecting Classrooms programme programme, we have supported over 70 Scottish schools to partner with schools in 17 countries around the world in 2013-14. By working in close partnership with Education Scotland, SCILT (Scotland’s National Centre for Languages), local authorities and the education faculties at Scottish universities, our offer meets the needs of Scottish schools.

We provide professional development opportunities for teachers and school leaders, and run an award scheme to recognise schools that bring an international component into their curriculum.
