French learners from five Scottish schools are gearing up to participate in the Franco-British Youth Ocean Conference, taking place on 27-28 November.
In recognition of the UN Ocean Conference in Nice in June, France declared 2025 its "Year of the Sea". This exciting event emerged from the Memorandum of Understanding between UK and French Ministries of Education, representing a prestigious opportunity for pupils to engage with global environmental challenges while enhancing their language skills.
Pupils will take part in COP (Conference of the Parties) simulation, offering a face-to-face role-playing exercise based on the UN climate change negotiations. Pupils from Schools across Scotland are preparing to discuss issues related to the seas and oceans, such as plastic pollution, rising sea levels, sustainable fisheries management or marine biodiversity.
