British Council Scotland Year of Young People opportunity
Nature Writing Seminar in Germany, 7-9 June 2018

As part of British Council Scotland’s work to create new international opportunities during Scotland’s Year of Young People, we are offering up to five fully-funded places for writers aged 18-26 to take part in a British Council Nature Writing Seminar in Germany from 7-9 June 2018 as part of the UK/Germany 2018 season.

  • How do we write about nature and landscape?
  • Can we observe the natural world and represent it in writing with respect and awe?
  • Does nature writing have the potential to change our relationship with the natural world?

These questions and more will be explored at the Seminar. Chaired by Robert Macfarlane, the event will celebrate and critically examine some of the aspects, forms and outcomes of nature writing.

Writers including Nancy Campbell, Horatio Clare, Helen MacDonald, Sarah Hall and Helen Mort will take part, reading from recent works, discussing characteristics of the genre and exploring recent trends.
