Founded in 1994, International Network of Street Papers (INSP) supports over 120 street paper in 40 countries in 24 languages, with a combined readership of six million per edition.
British Council Scotland is a supporter of the INSP International Annual Conference, a forum where street paper staff and guest speakers from all corners of the world can meet, share experience and form partnerships. Last year, the Annual Conference, Inspiring Street Papers in a Changing World, took place in Munich. We sponsored the presentation of the Best Feature Story - Writing for Social Impact Award, which went to Ryan Gallagher for his article "Storm about the Shelters", published in the Big Issue in the North (UK).
To mark the 20th anniversary of INSP, this year's Annual Conference will come back to Glasgow (12-15 August) - where INSP is based - following the Commonwealth Games (23 July - 3 August, Glasgow). British Council Scotland will support the international gathering as well as one of the awards.
