The Atelier for Young Festival Managers, an initiative of the European Festivals Association (EFA), is a rigorous seven-day training platform addressed at emerging artistic festival directors or those who have ambitions to become involved in programming or in programming-related departments within a festival. It is all about formulating experiences and passing on knowledge to a next generation of festival makers, focusing on the very essence of arts festivals: the arts and the artist.

From 3 to 10 April 2014, the European Festivals association, together with the Edinburgh International Festival, organised the Atelier for Young Festival Managers in Edinburgh. 52 participants from 28 countries and five continents attended the Atelier, as well as eight renowned festival leaders under the coordination of Hugo De Greef (former EFA Secretary General (2004-2008), Director European Capital of Culture Bruges 2002; Co-Founder Kaaitheater, Brussels, Belgium).

The Atelier Edinburgh was organised with the support of the British Council Scotland to offer a unique training programme and networking experience to young people coming from all over the world.

More information on presenters and participants can be found at The Festival Academy website or the Atelier for Young Festival Managers facebook page.
