Spirit of '47 at Edinburgh International Festival

6 -16 August 2017

A 70th anniversary collaboration between the British Council and the Edinburgh International Festival.

Spirit of '47 is a jointly curated season of talks, performances and screenings examining global citizenship and international collaboration with insights and perspectives from the UK and around the world.

To mark 70 years since the first International Festival, of which the British Council was a founding partner, Spirit of '47 celebrates the power of the arts to bring peoples together, restating and reinforcing the aims of the first Festival in the context of today's world.

Fostering a space for in-depth conversations around culture that delve beyond the headlines, the season of talks and performances will take place in three venues across Edinburgh.
